After a 13 hour flight from San Francisco, we arrived in Taiwan at around 6:30 PM local time. The time difference between Taiwan and the East Coast of America is 12 hours, and while we all were a little tired, we also were very excited to explore a new place.  After picking up our luggage, we met with James Yen, Ms. Yen’s brother and our guide for Taiwan. While waiting for the bus to take us to the city, we chose our dinner meals from a restaurant called  Mosi Burger. Their most famous dish was the rice burger, but other options like BBQ chicken sandwiches or shrimp burgers were also available. We finally got to our hotel and everyone was eager to go to their rooms to eat, shower, and sleep.  All in all, it was a great first few hours in Taiwan, and we all are looking forward to the next ten days here.

Day 2 in Taipei-By Michael Agege

Wednesday, June 12 - At the top of the Elephant Moutain We started off the day by taking the metro in order to travel to the elephant mountain. We hiked up the mountain and stopped at checkpoints to view and talk about the history of the Taipei 101 building. View of the Taipei 101 Tower from top of the Elephant Moutain Elephant Mountain Hiking Trail We soon descended and actually went to the building to see it first hand and learn about the former tallest building in the world (2004-2010). After a quick photo shoot with random civilians in front of the building, the group proceeded to the D-Ka Bun Taiwanese Meat and Rice Restaurant. We ate lunch and enjoyed courses with multiple types of porks, rice, soups, and more. Time was then given for students to walk, shop, and explore the Da-an district.
